Reading and Use of English, Part 7
Read about what people do during the time between school and university. Choose from the sections (A-E) the one which answers the question.
A. Angie is going to have a break through. Just before the university term starts, she’s going to have a fortnight in Italy with some school classmates.
B. Sally is definitely going to have to work before she does anything else, because she is short of cash. She wants to go away on holiday somewhere by the sea, and she’ll have to earn enough for that, so she’s got to look for a temporary job first.
C. Tracy has to spend the last month of the summer break getting ready for her course. She’s got a job in a shop for the first month until she goes on her holiday. As soon as she’s had a couple of weeks’ holiday, she’s going to settle down and get on studying.
D. Polly doubts whether she’ll go away, because she’s already been on holiday with her parents earlier in the year, and anyway she’ll have to do some studying before the term starts, because otherwise she’ll just have to work so hard when she gets to university.
E. Hilary is going to start with a break. After her school exams, she is feeling exhausted. She’s going to have a fortnight with her parents, somewhere abroad and lovely. Then, she’ll find a job, it doesn’t matter what, just so that she can have some pocket money for the rest of the year.
