In this lesson, you will enhance your listening skills and improve your performance in Part 2 of the B2 First Listening paper.
Overview
In Listening Part 2, you hear one long monologue that lasts 3–4 minutes.
You read a short text with ten gapped sentences. You listen and complete each gap with a word or a short phrase (one, two or three words)
Each question is worth one mark. There is a total of 10 marks.
Remember
The text you read is a summary of what you hear. So, the ten sentences in the text are paraphrased.
Before you listen, read the questions and think about the kind of information which might fit each gap. Is it, for example, a place or a number, a noun or an adjective?
Look for cues in the text, in front of the gap and in the text that follows the gap, that will help you identify the right word(s).
You may hear distractors which could fit the gap but do not answer the question.
The words you write must fit the sentence grammatically.
You must make NO changes to the word(s) you write. Write them exactly as you hear them.
You should always try to spell the word(s) you write correctly.
